World Cup craziness hits Coronet Peak

Press Release for Coronet Peak

7 July 2010

World Cup craziness hits Coronet Peak

Watch out for a huge snowball of fun coming down the slopes at Queenstown’s Coronet Peak ski area this Sunday (11 July) as football fever comes to the mountain.

The school holiday Kids Day Out is celebrating the FIFA 2010 World Cup Final with bagfuls of fun, games and giveaways lined up for the day.

Kids (and their parents) are invited to come dressed in the colours of their favourite football team and there’s free face painting from 11am to 2pm, along with live music on the deck from musician Shay, from the local double act Shay and Pearly.

Kids can then dig deep in the snow for prizes with the BNZ Treasure Hunt at 12.30pm and get creative in return for a delicious prize from Food and Beverage with the Streets colouring-in competition.

At 1pm it will be time to show off the football prowess at the Alpine Aqualand Penalty Shoot Out where mascots Spike and Shred will join Paddles the Polar Bear in goal, giving out more prizes as they go.

Coronet Peak ski area manager Hamish McCrostie said the Kids Day Out was designed to add an extra dimension to school holiday fun in the snow.

“We expect the day to be hugely popular with the combination of the school holidays and the final day of the World Cup. It’s very much a family-orientated day with the emphasis on fun and games and a little bit of football rivalry thrown in for good measure.”

For more information kids are invited to check out their very own fun website www.nzskiland.com.
