Koru Care Kids Kick Off Christmas with a Speedy Start

Koru Care Kids will be treated to an entertaining spectacle of Thundercat racing followed by Thundercat rides at their annual Christmas party on December 9, at Eastern Beach.

As part of the show, the Thundercat boats will drive past at high speed then run up onto the beach, where the Koru Care Kids will be treated to rides on them. Steve Morrison has been providing Thundercat rides at the Koru Care Kids annual Christmas party for five years. He says the rides run for about an hour and a half and the kids love it. “The boats can do about 75 kilometers, however the drivers have to evaluate the safety of this as some of the kids are not well and we moderate the speed,” says Morrison.

The Koru Care trust raises money for sick and terminally ill kids. For the last five years Koru Care NZ has been taking Koru Care Kids on a harbor cruise to celebrate the festive season. Since 1983, they have been working to bring a little bit of joy into the lives of children with terminal illness or permanent disabilities.
