Wellington pop-rockers *Supermodel* hit number ONE

Wellington pop-rockers *Supermodel* hit number ONE in the iTunes rock charts!

The popular four-piece* *topped the iTunes rock category on the first day of releasing their debut independent album *To The Mountains* on 29 July.

And it didn’t stop there. In the first week of release, Supermodel entered the IMNZ charts at No. 4, and landed No. 37 in The Official RIANZ Top 40 Album Chart.

Lead singer and guitarist *Mark Hanify’s *musical vision to ‘climb the mountain’ is fast becoming a reality.

“It’s not about doing it by halves,” says front man Mark Hanify. “It’s about epic proportions.”

Building on the show tune and musical theatre informed stadium rock of previously released songs *Send Me Dreaming*, *Blondie*, and *Want To Move*, *To The Mountains *elevates *Supermodel’s *unforgettable melodies* *to new levels of virtuosity and delicious harmonies, which dominate their entire album.

The colourful album* *was recorded last year in the UK at *Modern World Studios*, with acclaimed producer *Greg Haver *(Manic Street Preachers, Mel C, Opshop), before the band hit the summer festivals, appearing at *Rhythm and Vines*, *Homegrown, *and London’s famous* 100 Club *last year.

Artist *Max Thompson* was commissioned to draw the album cover. Located on Great Barrier Island, Max spent months digitally drawing images of the band (sister *Rose Hanify* – piano, vocals; *Mike White* – bass; *Tony Kemp* - drums), as well as fans, family and fictional characters straight out of Supermodel’s songs. The result is a visual story, which reflects songwriter Mark Hanify’s musical world.
