Entertainment update for
COKE Rugbyfest @ Hagley
The excitement is building
and organisers trust Cantabrians are already making plans to
get together with friends and family on the weekend of 8-9
October at COKE Rugbyfest @ Hagley. Brought to you by
Coca-Cola, the free rugby themed entertainment spectacular
is being held in the major event area of the Rugby World Cup
2011 Christchurch Fanzone, in North Hagley Park.
With
an anticipated crowd of 40,000, COKE Rugbyfest @ Hagley will
give Cantabrians the chance to experience the excitement of
RWC 2011 quarter-final action via two giant super screens
and enjoy on-field and on-stage entertainment from some of
Christchurch’s most talented performers, musicians and
dancers.
And as the countdown to RWC 2011
continues, organisers have announced the appearance of three
local award winning, high energy performance groups - all
girl hip hop crew Revelation Dance Crew, awarding winning
All Star Pride Cheer Team and the legendary Pounamu Ngai
Tahu Kapa Haka Group.
Artistic director, Kate Ward
Smythe says, “Christchurch has an enormous pool of talent
for us to draw from. These groups are just three of the
many inspirational dance and performance groups that
Christchurch has to offer, and they’ll line up on the day
with some truly awesome local and regional
performers.”
In line with a commitment from
Coca-Cola to ensure this free event is a true Canterbury
celebration, organisers have indicated the crowd can expect
to see many other familiar high profile entertainers,
broadcasting and rugby personalities, with more
announcements on these to be made soon.
