New Summer Festival Announced!

New Summer Festival Announced!

Choice new Festival, Tuborg Summer Sunday, has just been announced and to celebrate, we've been given a prize pack containing two tickets and 6 drink tokens (3 per person = responsible drinking) to give away!

Happening on Auckland Anniversary Weekend 2012 just 45 minutes North of Auckland at Matakana Music Mountain, the festival will feature a line-up of kiwi favourites as well as a few expertly selected up and coming acts, including:

Kora, Fly My Pretties, Little Bushman, Tahuna Breaks, Electric Wire Hustle, The Nudge, AHoriBuzz and @Peace.

With sustainability at the core of the festival’s ethos, multi award-winning charity, Sustainable Coastlines, and eco-focused lifestyle magazine, Element, will be spearheading a range of initiatives to ensure the festival community has a positive impact on the beautiful surroundings.

One of the primary initiatives is a Matakana coastal cleanup, which will encourage festival goers to stop off on the way to the festival, stretch their legs, roll up their sleeves and get involved in a quick spruce up of the coastal area. And there's a good incentive too: for every sack of trash participants collect, they’ll receive tokens for free Tuborg.

To enter the competetion to win the prize pack, head to the Tuborg Summer Sunday page, like it and then write a comment. The comp ends on Friday evening so make sure you get in quick!

Sunday 29 January - Matakana Music Mountain
Gates open midday. Live acts from 1pm - 1am.

New cast, new show & new comp!

The Fly My Pretties 2011 tour is hands down the most exciting yet and the 16-strong cast is easily the most diverse. If you missed the announcement, the 2011 cast is:

Barnaby Weir, Mike Fabulous, Nigel Patterson & Jarney Murphy (all The Black Seeds), Fran Kora (Kora), Justin “Firefly” Clarke (The Woolshed Sessions), L.A. Mitchell, Aaron Tokona (Cairo Knife Fight / AHoriBuzz), Age Pryor (Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra / The Woolshed Sessions), Ryan Prebble (Spartacus R & The Nudge), James Coyle & Iraia Whakamoe (both The Nudge), Anna Coddington, Flip Grater, Eva Prowse & Amiria Grenell.

To learn more about these stunning musical specimens, keep an eye on the Fly My Pretties facebook page, where a cast member is introduced each day.

On top of all that talent, joining the cast as an honorary non-musician will be Flox. She'll be creating a piece of art for every new FMP IV song, which will then be brought to life on stage through stunning visuals....some will even be painted live. With 15 new songs, they'll be 15 pieces of art that will be exhbited in the venue foyer.

As part of the tour, Fly My Pretties will also be venturing overseas for the first time and playing an exclusive Australian date at Melbourne's Athenaeum Theatre on Saturday 5 November.

To celebrate the Prettie's Australian show, Phoenix Organics is giving away a VIP experience to one lucky kiwi and their friend who will have the chance to fly to Melbourne and see the show on November 5. Or if you're an Australian fan, you will be flown to Wellington to see the last show of the tour at the St James on November 19!

Not only does the VIP pack include two return flights and two tickets to see Fly My Pretties IV live, but you'll get a backstage tour to meet the cast, one night's accommodation for two, the full Fly My Pretties catalogue, two dozen delicious Phoenix Organics and four Phoenix Organics designed cocktails to enjoy at the show.

The competetion opens this Monday (5 September) - check the Phoenix Organics Facebook page to find out how to enter.

The Sound of NZ Fashion Week...

Having provided the soundtrack to New Zealand Fashion Week for eight years running, LOOP is proud to yet again curate the sound for 2011.

This year we're uncovering some fresh and exciting talent and are treating NZ Fashion Week Facebook fans in the form of seven free downloads.

The tracks are exclusive and diverse ranging from up-and-coming acts like Popstrangers and Beastwars, to talents that we reckon are groundbreaking and deserve a plethora of ego rubs. You will also get some Loop friends in the mix, such as indie rap wunderkind, Tommy Ill, who has just signed to EMI as well as badass jam band and all-round trail blazers, AHoriBuzz.

A new free download is posted each day of Fashion Week, with the promotion running until the quota of 1000 downloads per song is reached. With a few songs already up and still available for download, we recommend you get downloading quick smart!
