Longing for the long weekend?

AUCKLAND – 11 October 2011: With the Labour Day long weekend just around the corner 36% of Kiwi’s want to pack their bags and head to Queenstown, according to a recent survey by leading online accommodation website, Wotif.co.nz.

General Manager Wotif Brands, Megan Magill, said Queenstown has always been a favourite with international tourists, but it seems Kiwi’s love it there just as much.

“You won’t be bored in Queenstown just because it’s summer, there’s plenty to do all year round whether you’re into wineries, hiking or adventure sports,” Ms Magill said.

If you are looking for a family getaway, Rotorua came in as the hot favourite holiday destination to take the kids with 28% of the votes.

“Rotorua has something for every member of the family with theme parks, luges, water activities, the lake, and plenty of cultural experiences.”
Islands proved the best bet for a kid-free long weekend, with Stewart Island a close runner up to Waiheke Island.

Head to Wotif.co.nz for your long weekend accommodation deals.
