Rhythm and Vines kicked off with a bang tonight with performances from some of the world’s hottest international and local acts. Hiphop legend Grandmaster Flash wowed the crowds with a huge set of bangers; while local songstress Zowie turned it up on the main stage and Australian band, Architecture in Helsinki played through sunset with their hook-laden, magnetic tunes.

Over 24,000 festival-goers poured through the Waiohika gates as Gisborne turned on the kind of sunny afternoon its known for.

Excitement levels onsite are high as revellers look forward to two more days of festival action, including performances from chart-topper Calvin Harris, Example, Six60, Cut Copy, David Dallas, Homebrew and more.
