Future Dragonz Launches Slanted Conversation Series

Future Dragonz Launches Slanted Conversation Series

Auckland, New Zealand. (March 2012) – A fresh and funky conversation series that explores Chinese contemporary lives and experiences launches on Wednesday 28 March in Auckland at The University of Auckland Business School.

Presented by Future Dragonz, the Slanted series opens up people’s eyes to the growing social, economic and cultural influence of Chinese in New Zealand and around the world. It is a platform to confront challenges and issues that Chinese people face in society today.

Slanted aspires to offer a personal point of view – from Chinese voices within our vibrant communities – as well as to uproot stereotypes historically imposed on us by others less informed. The series will appeal to anyone with an interest in Chinese stories.

Kicking off Slanted is White or Wong? Unlocking the Bamboo Door, a panel discussion that tackles the myths or realities of employee discrimination in the recruitment process and the question of cultural stereotyping in the workplace.

Slanted 2012 will feature three curated events showcasing the perspectives of emerging and established personalities across a range of creativity, lifestyle and career pursuits.

Some believe that Chinese people all look and think the same. With Slanted we offer our unique bent on things, through our eyes.
