Sports Exchange to Ignite Competition at NZIS
Wellington, New Zealand May 28-31,2012- Staff and students prepare in anticipation of the annual New Zealand Institute of Sport [intercollegial] sports competition held this year in Wellington between May 28 - 31. NZIS students from around the country will be flying in to take part in Sports Exchange from Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington campuses going head to head in their respective codes to come home with medals and compete to be number one.
This exciting competition is a chance for students to show excellence in sports. The Sports Exchange is all about fun, social interaction and healthy competition.
The games are played over three days and include a large function for staff and students. There is prize-giving for MVPs, NZIS Tournament Teams on the last day and the Winning NZIS Campus is announced.
Volleyball, Netball, Touch, Rugby, Football, Basketball, Athletics, Swimming, Indoor Cricket, Mixed Netball, Golf will be the traditional sports played at the exchange. Students also have an opportunity to compete in recently introduced sports such as Power Lifting, Rugby League and Table Tennis. Some codes like basketball, rugby and volleyball will also be an opportunity to consider players for the NZIS international tour to USA this year.
It’s an exciting time for everyone at NZIS on
the court and off. Those students not competing will be
cheering on their fellow classmates and helping run the
event gaining practical experience in sports
management.
The New Zealand Institute of Sport offers an opportunity to make sport a career by combining theory with practical application and physical training. Sports Exchange is one of the iconic events held by NZIS where students can apply their Sports Management and Exercise Prescription skills at a sporting event while competing and having fun. So which teams will take home a win gold as well as be overall champions.? Who will rise to the challenge to take on NZIS Auckland, the winner of last year’s Sports Exchange?
