Four Weeks Until The Hottest Cultural Event Of The Year

Four Weeks Until The Hottest Cultural Event Of The Year.

The countdown is on to the hottest cultural event within in the Waikato

ReStyle, Hamilton’s very own wearable arts fashion show, will feature at the Founders Theatre on Saturday September 8. Organisers are now encouraging the public to purchase their tickets in order to get the best seats in front of the catwalk.

Enjoy a phenomenal night out with friends and family at ReStyle 2012 – a show where high fashion, art, music, dance and performance meet as one.

ReStyle is entering into its 12th year, and has come a far since its early beginnings in 2001. ReStyle was once a small event held at Centre Place with a mere 100 attendees, today the show has grown and reached a new calibre, being one of the most successful fashion and arts events in Hamilton – with well over 80 entries, and audience numbers close to 700.

Think World of Wearable Arts with a Hamiltonian flavour.

ReStyle 2012 will be inspired by a tribal and cultural exgravaganza of performances such as fire breathing acts, collaboration of wasteful drumming, stage pounding dancing and singing.

Founders Theatre will be transformed, with the catwalk yet again extending right into the audience with the stage set up just like TVs Survivor.

Event Co-Manager Siobahn Brown was intrigued by the tribal element of Survivor that is an element that she and Co-Manager Kali Pentecost wanted to use to theme the 2012 Awards show. “We have embraced not only the natural aspects but also the wild ideas throughout our six categories, particularly the use of such neutral and natural looking colours and fabrics” says Brown.

Alex Louise from Auckland will also be grace the stage with her vocal talent. Alex, who has a unique voice which is a mesh of folk, indie and inspired by story-telling will also be playing the piano at ReStyle 2012. Her most recent gigs include opening the 2012 Anzac match between the Chiefs vs Hurricanes, this week Alex will also be opening for the Feelers and Annah Mac for their “No need to Worry Tour”.

“ReStyle 2012 will be reaching yet another level this year, with our Launch Event on August 17, never done before. The concept is to mover further away from the idea of ‘Trash to Fashion’ and grasp the tasteful and elegant experience of what ReStyle has to offer,” says Pentecost.

Top Waikato designer Aroha will be showcasing her summer collection of Shikoba and Jazz Unlimited dancers will grace the stage throughout the two hour show. There will also be a range of spot prizes, and those who purchased a VIP group-booking ticket will receive a glass of champagne and goodie bag on arrival.
