Hospice Fair promises fun for the family and treasure for bargain hunters

Hospice West Auckland promises fun for the whole family at the New Lynn Hospice Shop on Saturday September 22. From 10am until 3pm the Delta Ave shop will be humming with activities for young and old at the Hospice Shop Fair.

There will be a bouncy castle, face painting, balloon twisting and dove racing for the kids, who will also enjoy the ice cream and the sausage sizzle.

New Lynn Hospice shop is bursting at the seams with quality goods thanks to the success of the recent Give it Up for Hospice campaign, which encouraged Aucklanders to give up their clothing, furniture and bric-a-brac for a good cause. The community responded generously and some of the special items donated include an antique walnut table, Karen Walker jeans and Royal Albert tea cups.

Bargain hunters will find plenty of treasure at the fair. They will also love the bake sale, the craft stall and the many in-store specials. What’s more, anyone who spends $20 or more on clothing will go in the draw to win a $5000 shopping spree at Trelise Cooper. The Trelise Cooper competition runs until October 6, so those people who can’t make it along to the fair needn’t miss out.

There is also an extra special something for the vintage aficionados, with Live and Let Dye hair salon creating fantastic retro hairstyles. For just five dollars shoppers will be able to have their hair styled in victory rolls a la Betty Page, or in a quiff like James Dean.

There will also be coffee on site for those who can’t go without their daily fix, and music lovers will enjoy the sounds provided courtesy of 95bFM darling Silke, University of Auckland songwriter of the year winner Jocee Tuck, and singer songwriter Callum Gentleman.

Entry to the fair is free, and proceeds from the activities go to Hospice West Auckland. Parking is available at Lynnmall and on Reid Road. The fair will be held rain or shine.

Proceeds from the Hospice shops enable Hospice West Auckland to provide specialist end of life care at no cost to people in need.
