The tune finalists are in

U WANTS YOUR VOTE! The tune finalists are in but the final decision is yours.

Post punk revival meets Mommbahto as TVNZ U announces five stand out NZ finalists, whittled down from 400 entries.

Tune is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an up-and-coming Kiwi musician to have their song professionally recorded, produced and played on U for the next 12 months, thanks to KIT KAT.

Now it’s up to the nation to vote for their favourite track. Voting is open from Thursday 13 September to Sunday 7 October 2012 on u.co.nz/tune.

Oliver Sealy, U channel manager says, “We were blown away by the amount of talented entries that came through. We can’t wait to see how the voting goes and who will come out on top and become our channel music.”

And the tune finalists are:

Originally from Wellington and Queenstown respectively, Auckland based Sharne Parker (aka Basenia, 20) and Sarah Foley (18) met at MAINZ earlier this year. After realizing they both had a passion for Bass music, they collaborated, the outcome being the catchy, uplifting track, ‘Go Insane’.

Jane Deezy (21) hails from Rwanda, Africa and now resides in Hamilton. She’s been writing songs since she was just 14-years-old and recorded her first song in a Wellington basement. Jane describes her music as tongue ‘n cheek as she likes to take advantage of her right to freedom of speech.

Jon Beazley is a 19-year-old producer living in Wellington. Predominantly producing drum ‘n bass under the alias Beta[System], Jon began producing music in 2011 when he discovered the local electronic music scene and decided to give it a go, only ever intending to make music for fun.

Auckland band Pretty Hush-Hush mashes elements of post-punk revival, alternative and melodic Britpop together to create a mongrel of a dog, with as much bite. Pretty Hush-Hush are Thomas Weston (25), vocals, guitar; Nick Gill (31) bass; and Mark Towl (27) on drums.

After living across the ditch in Sydney for 10 years, Busby Pearche-Otene (33), Wellington; aka Buzzeebee returned to the shores of Aotearoa in 2010 to begin shaping his pathway from a bedroom producer, to a NZ music artist.

Everyone who votes goes into the draw to win one of fifty prize packs, including a $50 music voucher, KIT KAT goodies and U merchandise.
