Kennett moves from track to road

Team update

Kennett moves from track to road for Twizel to Timaru Classic cycling race

Dylan Kennett moves from the track to racing on the road for his SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team in tomorrow’s Twizel to Timaru Classic cycling race.

Kennett won four medals last month’s junior world track championships in Invercargill. He is joined by his SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team mates Tayla Harrison, who also raced in the Junior World Track Championships and Nick Lovegrove for the South Canterbury handicap race.

Harrison is in good form after winning last week’s Under 19 R & R Tour de Taieri near Dunedin which moved him into the lead in the BikeNZ Junior National Points Series. Lovegrove is keen to get some racing in his legs after spending most of winter travelling overseas after getting married.

Racing starts early tomorrow morning in Twizel and heads along State Highway eight through Pukaki and Tekapo before heading east through Kimball, Fairlie, Cave and Pleasant Point to the finish line on the outskirts of Timaru.

Paul won the individual time trial, stage fiveB of the tour by 45seconds over 12.2km. This was his primary goal at the tour so he ‘was really stoked to nail it.’

Paul says he was happy with the stage as he had prepared really well but unfortunately was not able to 'recon' the course so I felt he did not go hard enough in the final two kilometres where there was a one kilometre ascent and descent. “I was focused on safety too as the road conditions are... well worse than Aranui”!
