MEDIA ALERT

The Shopping Channel launches home shopping television in New Zealand tonight

Eva Longoria to appear on The Shopping Channel on Thursday

AUCKLAND, 1 October 2012 – The Shopping Channel, New Zealand’s first and only dedicated retailing TV channel, will open for business tonight, broadcasting live from 7.00pm, on Channel 18 on both Freeview and Sky TV.

Alistair Duff, CEO of The Shopping Channel, says that today is an historic day for both retailing and broadcasting in New Zealand.

“The Shopping Channel is the department store Kiwi women have always wanted in their homes. We will bring a wide variety of brands to New Zealand that wouldn’t normally be accessible to New Zealanders with a great team of presenters, with familiar and new faces, to sell the products."

The Shopping Channel presenters include Monty Betham, Fiona McDonald, Candy Lane, Lucy Gallaugher and Mike Puru, among others.

In addition, The Shopping Channel will be hosting Hollywood celebrity Eva Longoria live on air at 7.30pm this Thursday 4 October, as Ms Longoria makes her first ever trip to New Zealand.
