Auckland's Armageddon Expo Begins with a Bang Tonight!

The Armageddon Expo explodes into life at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds tonight with a special preview event that will set the benchmark for the three-day long pulp-culture extravaganza.

True gaming aficionados have known for weeks that tonight’s event will be happening as massive titles like Halo 4 are released to the New Zealand public for the first time in all their glory. The first hands-on public preview of Halo 4 marks the beginning of a new saga, as mankind’s greatest hero, Master Chief, returns in a truly epic sci-fi adventure.

007 is another big name brand coming to this year's Auckland Armageddon. In celebration of the Bond franchise’s 50th anniversary, an exclusive release of 007 Legends – the newest Bond game – will occur, and take gamers on a sojourn through some of the most iconic and extreme Bond missions and films. Five classic Bond films are tied into 007 Legends, as well as a sixth mission from the forthcoming film SKYFALL.

EA Games will be giving gamers the first hands-on experience to play with the never before seen state of the art graphics with an exclusive preview of the hugely-anticipated title Crisis 3. Other previews from EA Games include Medal of Honour Warfighter, Need for Speed and FIFA13.

The PlayStation Mega Stand will also be presents an exclusive preview of Sony and J.K Rowling’s collaborative work Wonderbook: Book of Spells. The game is an advanced use of augmented reality whereby kids have the unique chance to discover what it’s like to be a true wizard through their PlayStation move controller.

The entertainment tonight continues with a huge host of events starting with the all ages Masquerade Ball at the Logan Campbell Theatre from 6.00pm – 9.30pm. Five amazing bands will hit the stage, including international bands Magnolia Memoir and Eyeshine as well as three local bands – all who will have you dancing up a storm.

Those looking for something a little bit different need to head to Foam Party from 6.00pm – 9.00pm in Hall 5 which will see two foam cannons making massive amounts of thick, long-lasting foam which will stick to your body, and make you feel like a kid again! Take note – you are guaranteed to get foamy and wet – so to have a great time, bring your boardies and bikinis and get ready to party.

Finally, don’t miss tonight’s massive Fireworks display with the iconic Armageddon Burning man at 9.45pm. The trend setters of pyrotechnic art and entertainment Pyro Company Fireworks have built the biggest Armageddon Burning Man yet - which is sure to be a highlight of the official opening night of New Zealand’s best pulp culture event!
