The Void is playing host to four fresh bands, from all over the North Island, who have joined forces to delight the Hamilton youth with their exceptional sounds.
Opening the night is Hamilton's Red Nite Sky. The pop-rock four piece recently found success winning the Waikato Smokefreerockquest Regional final as year 10 students. Since then, the local boys have been gigging around the area and continuing to write some great music in preparation for the competition next year.
SundayBest are next to grace the stage with their indie tunes. SundayBest were also fierce competitors in the Smokefreerockquest competition, winning the Bay of Plenty regional final. The Cambridge trio were then called up to compete in the national final, alongside 5 other acts considered to be the best high school bands in the country.
A Bit Nigel are also regulars on the Rockquest circuit, having a list of achievements including Lowdown Best Song Award, Winners of the Rotorua regional final and making it to the national final two years running. The three Taupo boys formed the band back in 2010; they are known for their good, smooth sound, with the odd flair of colour and their first single, “3 Problems,” has just been released on iTunes.
The last act for the night is the Tauranga breed
alternative-pop group, the Leers. 2012 was a huge year for
the band, holding a #1 single on bFM top10 for two weeks in
a row. The boys also played shows with classy acts such as
Cut Off Your Hands, Two Cartoons, Clap Clap Riot, Young Lyre
and Collapsing Cities and are set to release their
sophomore EP later this month.
A Rip Roaring Ruckus is
an all ages, alcohol and drug free event. Doors open at
6.30 pm, the show will kick off at 7.00pm. A great night of
quality entertainment for a mere $10! This is one event
that can’t be missed.
