‘L for Lucie’ wows fashionistas with her first show.

Young fashion designer Lucie Sutichunta held her very first fashion show in the tasteful setting of Botswana Butchery restaurant (Auckland Viaduct Harbour.)

Her collection ‘Making Merit’ Spring / Summer 2014 is Lucie Sutichunta’s first collection to be shown on such a grand scale, not only was this a big step for the growth of her fashion brand L for Lucie which was launched in 2010 but it was Lucie’s debut to the New Zealand Fashion scene and introduction to Fashion editors and journalists.

‘Making Merit’ Spring / Summer 2014 took inspiration from the look of Thai-inspired street wear. Some of Lucie’s label ‘L for Lucie’ is already available in store at Britomart’s Made boutique.

Designer Lucie was buzzing after the show had ended with an equally pleased crowd who were delighted to see such a bright, vibrant and fashionably modern collection.

"It was nice to see a collection so full of colour and I enjoyed the mix of different fabrics and textures. It was a really refreshing collection," said Denise Tuson, Publisher ME Magazine.

The lead up to and the show itself was filmed as part of the TV3 documentary series Both Worlds, produced by Notable Pictures. Both Worlds explores the lives of second generation New Zealanders and the challenges and benefits that come with combining their two cultural worlds.

This particular episode of Both Worlds focused just on Lucie who at 16 moved with her parents from Thailand to Timaru. Lucie graduated from the AUT Fashion Design School in 2010 and has since been a finalist in several New Zealand fashion competitions including the ID International Emerging Design Awards and the Westpac Young Fashion Designer award.
