Petone Toastmasters host open meeting

Making better public speakers in Petone for 13 years

Petone Toastmasters invites the public to its open house meeting to watch members in action as they demonstrate their public speaking, listening and leadership skills. As well as talk to members and find out about the successful Toastmasters International Program. This program has 10,000 members in New Zealand and has helped millions of men and women around the world to ‘Find Their Voice’ and become the speakers and leaders they want to be.

Our members include Theresa Ryan, who won our club’s Humorous Speech Competition and went on to achieve second place at the Division J Competition Final. Other members include professional speaker ‘Kiwi Dave’ (Dave Stonyer) and members of various professions and trades, who believe that Toastmasters has helped them gain confidence and personal growth.

Toastmaster clubs provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills. What sets the Petone Toastmaster club apart is its sense of fun. We get down to the serious business of good speaking (delivering both prepared and off-the-cuff speeches), leadership training, communication and mutual support, and we enjoy ourselves along the way.

Club Member, Raylene, points out that she joined Toasmasters in 2007 to improve her ability to respond to workplace questions on the spot in a professional, informed and concise manner. Stating that the meetings have many funny moments and create a great environment to learn together.
