MORE FM Raises $134,285.07 For KidsCan on More Day

Nationwide radio network MORE FM has raised $134,285.07 today for KidsCan on More Day.

More Day kicked off at 6am this morning with hosts from every corner of New Zealand presenting shows throughout the day on the MORE FM radio network.

They were joined by local and international music, sporting and showbiz stars like Lisa Carrington, Jason Kerrison, FUN, Jake Bugg and Ladi 6.

Newsreaders Mike McRoberts, Rachel Smalley and Alison Mau provided their skills across the day too.

“I’m really proud of the hard work and dedication by the entire MORE FM team, listeners, schools, students, guests and sponsor partners ,” says MORE FM Network Programme Director Ande Macpherson. “We couldn’t have asked for a better result and ultimately this is all for a cause that we care about – helping Kiwi kids have a fair shot at a great future.”

The total figure was reached through donations from More FM listeners and through bids made on Trade Me auctions throughout the day. And this year More Day 2013 saw the introduction of the first ever Kidscan National Mufti Day. Schools and businesses all over New Zealand joined in the celebrations and dressed in mufti while donating money towards the final total.

"More Day has been tremendous from start to finish and we are truly grateful for the support from everyone at More FM and the hundreds of schools and businesses who have participated in KidsCan National Mufti Day,” says KidsCan General Manager of Marketing and Fundraising Jan Clark.

“The funds raised will enable KidsCan to do even more through the programmes we provide in 341 schools nationwide".

KidsCan CEO Julie Chapman says “We are just overwhelmed with the way New Zealand has got in behind More Day to support Kiwi kids less fortunate than others”.
