New Zealand Comedic Genius Returns to Dai-vd

Dai Henwood – Adapt Or Dai

Released on DVD August 16th 2013
Produced by Notorious* and distributed by Universal Music

Dai Henwood, the King of Good ol’ Kiwi comedy is giving NZ what they want - the chance to take him home and chuck him on repeat. Come August 16th everyone can have their own piece of Henwood as his second DVD ADAPT OR DAI - HUMANS ARE AWESOME, LET’S CELEBRATE becomes available in all good retail shops across NZ.

The animal kingdom was a Wrestlemania and humans won. What next?

Dai Henwood thinks we’ve been too hard on ourselves. Always looking at the negative and not celebrating humanity’s biggest achievements such as electric toothbrushes, Egyptian cotton and forklifts.

Genuinely one of the most positive people around, Henwood noticed that we, humans, are being a bit too down on ourselves as a species. Sure we might have bunged up the environment, we’re a bit overweight and have a tendency to exploit and pillage everything we can, but sometimes we need to remind ourselves of all the awesome things we’ve created and all the awesome things we do. Lasers, pants, laughter, the list goes on.

Recorded at Auckland’s Q Theatre (his first full show in the space) during the NZ International Comedy Festival 2013, Adapt Or Dai picked up where the Henwood left off in 2011; audiences in fits of laughter and reviewers lauding his show as “charming […] amiable and […] clever” (Theatreview).

A winner of both the Billy T and Fred Awards, Henwood has stood up with the best comics around the world with performances in Edinburgh, Tokyo, Melbourne and being asked to the invite only Montreal Just For Laughs Festival.

Well known for his role as team leader for Team Two on TV3’s 7Days, Henwood’s been gracing our screens since the C4 cult hit, Insert Video Here. Since then he’s gone on to host his own AotearoHA Christmas special, MC’d the NZ Music Awards three times and hosted two seasons of his off the wall travel show, Roll The Dai.

This isn’t Dai’s first foray into the DVD world however. In 2009, Henwood released his first comedy album/DVD, Dai Another Day, which achieved gold status within New Zealand.

Adapt Or Dai is an hour of sublime stand up from one of our best and most loved comics. Crack it out, press play and applaud humanity – or check out the director’s commentary, featuring Dai, Justine Smith and Steve Wrigley chatting picture-in-picture about the stand-up show itself!

Adapt Or Dai is released on DVD from 16th August and is available from all good retailers nationwide.
