Top NZ Foodies Team up on a Free Cookbook with $2.25 Recipes

Top New Zealand foodies have contributed recipes to a free cookbook which encourages kiwis to eat $2.25 worth of food a day. More than 20 Kiwi chefs, bloggers and food celebrities, including Julie le Clerc, Jo Seagar and Jesse Mulligan, have contributed a recipe to the cookbook in honour of the upcoming Live Below the Line Campaign.

Live Below the Line
is a global challenge that encourages Kiwis to live on $2.25 a day for their food for five days from 23rd to 27th September 2013. With over 22 partner charities taking part in the campaign, the annual TEAR Fund Live Below the Line cookbook is designed to be a guide for those participating i and features 39 recipes.

TEAR Fund communications manager Helen Manson says she is thrilled and thankful to have had so many people contributing their recipes. “TEAR Fund puts out this cookbook every year as a gift to the community of people that challenge themselves to live on $2.25 per day for five days. Top foodies from all over New Zealand have graciously shown us by example how to create good tasting food that will go easy on your wallet as well as your conscience!”
Recipes like potato and carrot kugel, stir-fried rice, and beef brisket stew are some new exciting additions that can be found in this year’s cookbook. The cookbook contains a variety of recipes for all meals, snacks and even a little something for the sweet tooth.

All money raised as people live below the line will be going towards the rescue and rehabilitation of girls in Southeast Asia caught up in human trafficking.
To launch the cookbook and to encourage people to Live Below the Line, TEAR Fund will be giving away a free breakfast at Crave café in Kingsland, Auckland on Friday, 6 September from 7-10am. The free breakfast menu will contain a variety of recipes from the cookbook.

The free cookbook is available to view and download online at http://tearfund.org.nz/livebelowtheline.html
