Creative student talent to feature on YESSHOP

TV shopping network YESSHOP dedicates Sunday mornings to showcase local creative student talent

First programme to debut Sunday, 17 November

Auckland, 12 November 2013 – YESSHOP, New Zealand’s brand new TV home shopping network, today announced its commitment to champion New Zealand youth and culture by dedicating Sunday mornings to showcasing local content, starting with short films created by students from Yoobee School of Design and the SAE Institute of Auckland.

The initiative provides a television platform that reaches the wider New Zealand community enabling the current generation of creative industry students to have their work watched beyond the classroom, says Alistair Duff, Yesshop CEO.

“The ability for aspiring talent, and in some cases even established well known talent, to get access to airtime is almost impossible. This simple solution creates an environment and destination for these groups.

“YES! Cinema - starting 17 November at 6.00am - will highlight the work of aspiring directors, producers, actors, and post-production talent, publicly promoting their films and providing the first step towards achieving their goals and dreams. Helping to boost the local film industry can only be positive for everyone.”

The second instalment of YESSHOP’s Sunday cultural series, YES! Foodies, explores the hidden gems of local restaurants.

YES! Foodies airs from December, and will feature interviews with chefs and profile their signature dishes. It will be followed by a series of story-telling documentaries about real people and real New Zealand through the eyes of New Zealand’s multi-cultural youth.

"Yesshop is not just another shopping channel,” says Duff.

“We are committed to supporting the aspirations of youth and the community in general.

"This is unprecedented by a TV shopping network. It extends beyond our core business of home shopping and strategy of providing quality and value to our viewers and broadens the touchpoints to achieve this objective.”
