Tasty prizes in annual Nosh pavlova bake-off

With summer warming up it’s time to get cracking and dig out your favourite pav recipe for the annual Nosh Food Market Pavlova Competition. And the ante has been well and truly upped for this year’s bake-off.

The annual celebration of the pav pits amateur chefs against each other in three categories – adult 15 and older, children 14 and younger and an alternative category for those who think outside the baking dish.

Now in its fifth year, the annual cook-off has some tasty new prizes that are bound to heat up the competition. The winner of the adult category receives a Kenwood KMM020 stand mixer valued at $1,500.

Baking the best pav in the children’s section wins the mini-chef a Kenwood HM807 hand mixer worth $150, and the first place winner of the alternative category will receive a Kenwood KMX97 K-Mix stand mixer valued at $780.

Second place-getters in each category win a year’s supply of Craddock Farm free-range eggs consisting of a half dozen eggs per week for one year and valued at $230. Third place winners of each category will each earn a $70 Equagold Vanilla prize pack.

Nosh CEO Hayden Syers says he’s expecting some terrific desserts in 2013 with the new prize sweeteners a big attraction.

“Most of us have a sweet tooth when it comes to the festive season and the annual Nosh Pavlova Competition always brings out the best in Kiwi cooks. It’ll be tough; the judges are looking for some real flair in 2013,” Hayden says.

· To register, email your full name, address, telephone number and what store competition you are entering and what section (Adult, Child or Alternative) to pavlova@noshfoodmarket.com before 12 noon, Monday 2 December. You will receive an email confirmation inviting you to bring your pavlova to Nosh on Tuesday 3 December for judging.
