Targa New Zealand 2013

Targa New Zealand 2013

Firstly and most importantly Targa would like to give a HUGE thank you to everyone involved with the Targa New Zealand event. Thanks to all the competitors, service crews, families, spectators, local communities, volunteers, officials, marshall groups, sponsors and everyone else that all played a part in creating the events success. There are hundreds of people involved in the creation of an event and without you, Targa would not exist!

We hope that our new volunteers enjoyed themselves and will be back next year. As you would have discovered, not only is it hugely satisfying to be part of the organisation of a premium motorsport event but also a fantastic opportunity to travel the spectacular country side, meet likeminded people, and see some fine machinery. We are always looking for more volunteers so spread the word.

The weather for the week was perfect for the event, we only encountered one day of rain which created a bit of fun at the service park in New Plymouth, the rest of the event saw not a cloud in the sky. Photos are now available for purchase through Ground-Sky www.groundsky.co.nz. Also remember to check out our Facebook page for plenty of photos at the Dotcom Mansion event festivities and updates from the week.

Dotcom Mansion:

The start of the event at the Dotcom Mansion was a great success. The grounds were spectacularly presented, the photos are pristine, and the opportunity to expand the entertainment on offer to the general public and media meant Targa could start the event somewhat different to what we have ever offered before. Thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket to the mansion as this money went to our charity Kids in Cars who successfully raised awareness and donations that will see many struggling families in our community enjoying their Christmas this year. Thanks very much to Kim, Tony from Instra Corporation and the rest of their team for providing us with this opportunity.

Media:

The international media that attended the event have successfully exposed Targa New Zealand to the world and now many opportunities are opening up for the future of the events. We had fantastic support from our local media, thanks to Parkside Media, TV3, and the New Zealand Herald for the number of articles published throughout the week, there is more to come, so watch this space. The website has the press releases from during the event published so make sure you check these out. The home page of the website also features all of the videos from each day of the event so be sure to watch these as you might be on there!

We hope you all purchased a copy of this month’s Classic Car magazine for the full report and results of Targa NZ. Thanks to Ecolight for sponsoring the Targa Documentary that comes free with a copy of this month’s magazine.
