Majic Claims the August Wildcard Chart

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday 1st of September

Majic Claims the August Wildcard Chart

Another big month in August for theaudience.co.nz’s Wildcard Funding Chart, but in the end it was a top reggae riddim from the sunny Kapiti Coast that claimed this month’s $10,000 Wildcard Making Tracks grant. Since launching her campaign early in the month, Majic never looked back after claiming the #1 spot on the chart, holding it for almost the entire month with her song “Mi Deh Yah”. She faced some stiff competition from the likes of 15-year-old Christchurch student Ashy Batchelor, and the industrious rapper L.A.Z., but neither of them could hold back the unstoppable Majic from claiming her first NZ On Air funding grant.

Majic was delighted with her win, and had plenty of kind words for those who made it possible. “Firstly Give Thanks & Praise to The one true source and inspiration for Reggae artists like myself worldwide. His Imperial Majesty Hailie Selassie I Jah' Rastafari. Equally to all of my Whaanau/Family, friends, fans, artists, bands, promoters & sponsors who liked, shared, posted, created group pages all in order to support this campaign. We here at MajicsMusic sincerely thank each & every one of you.”

Majic and her crew say they’ve learned a lot from this month’s campaign. “It pained us to call upon our social network as much as we did, but at the end of the day, many many lessons were learnt & we accept them as a blessing in disguise. We can share that knowledge with others & hopefully inspire many more Reggae Artists & bands to follow in our footsteps & we will be more than happy to support where ever possible.”

Majic also took time to acknowledge the others competing for the August chart. “Big ups to all of the other artists that applied for Wildcard funding (Huge Props especially to Ashy & Rory) 1) for your talent & 2) for running awesome campaigns which tested our networks to their limits.”

“To theaudience.co.nz & NZ On Air for providing all Artists regardless of Ethnicity, Age or Genre an absolutely AWESOME opportunity to further their careers, we say Thank you!”

Congratulations Majic, winner of theaudience.co.nz’s Wildcard Funding Chart for July 2014! Listen to her winning tune “Mi Deh Yah” here. The end of the August Chart of course means a new opportunity for September, and who wouldn’t want to win the Wildcard Grant in the first month of Spring?
