New Mai breakfast host revealed

The on air search is over and Lily Taurau will be the newest recruit at Mai!

From Monday Lily joins Nickson and Nate to complete The Mai Morning Crew breakfast show line up 6am -10am weekdays.

Brand new to radio 21 year old and Auckland based Lily has been a student for the past three years recently completing her Bachelor in Business.

“I’m in shock, this is so exciting, it’s a dream come true. I feel very humbled as there were so many amazing applicants. Working with Nickson and Nate will be a challenge; I don’t think they’ll make my initiation easy!” says Lily.

To apply contestants entered a video and CV online. From there eight were chosen to trial live on air with Nickson and Nate. Each finalist was put through their paces with a series of tasks that included reading the gossip section ‘Hip Hop Hollywood’ and participating in the ominous ‘Wheel of Tortune.’

A public vote saw one finalist through to the top three while two others were handpicked by Nickson and Nate. An interview with Mai Content Director, and New Zealand pioneer Hip Hop DJ, DJ Sir-Vere finalised the winner.

"I was excited by the calibre of contestants and Lily was fun and engaging plus could take flak from quick-talkers Nickson and Nate,” he says. "I’m sure we will see her develop quickly as this sure is the deep end when it comes to radio."

The all new Mai Morning Crew is on air from 6am on Monday 10 November.
