Muscle Mouth: Truimphs

Muscle Mouth
Triumphs
April 29 – May 2, 2015

A Lonesome Scene… The lonely Tiger... Solitary Enlightenment... A Triumphant Rest…

A single scene stuck in a loop inside one texture… attached to only one moment... existing in its only world.

Taking elements from their existing performance work, Triumphs and Other Alternatives, Muscle Mouth presents the performance installation, Triumphs, at Enjoy Gallery from April 29 – May 2, 2015. By representing the work in the more personal world of the gallery, the work aims to move content away from being regarded just as a 'scene' in a show as a way to invite a different understanding of the material substances and creator's intentions.

Muscle Mouth is a multidisciplinary company that produces live performance, visual art and installation art works. Their first New Zealand work, AGE, was commissioned in 2014 by the New Zealand Festival.

Triumphs and Other Alternatives

"a little bit of obsession … a little bit of grandness ... a lot of dramatic sweat"

Triumphs and Other Alternatives features acclaimed danseur Ross McCormack direct from Belgium's Les Ballets C de la B. The show collides sculpture with gutsy performance to create an original and visceral new style of Physical Movement Theatre. Triumphs and Other Alternatives explores the obsessiveness and traps of the creative process, demonstrating a delusional joy that the act of creating can bring forth.
