Two New Street Lamps Shine on Solidarity Gridfor Neil Graham
The story of Solidarity Grid is particularly poignant this week as we feel the overwhelming loss of Neil Graham. The work, based on the act of giving and the positive symbolism of light, resonates very much with the nature of the man himself.
Neil personally funded the carriage of every city's lamp across the globe to Christchurch. He has always supported us, opening his home and offering help that went beyond the difference.
Dame Adrienne Stewart, SCAPE Public Art Governing Patron spoke of the strength and energy of Neil Graham. “Everyone in the city will miss him enormously,” she said. “We will miss his generous nature. He was a fantastically strong man and he was also a lot of fun. The world was a better place with him.”
We will miss our friend, a special man who made a difference to so many and leaves a huge legacy. May his light shine on as he rests in peace.
We will observe a minute's silence to honour Neil Graham at tomorrow's Dedication:
