The Beatgirls to perform at Pukerua Bay School Village Fair

The Beatgirls to perform at Pukerua Bay School Village Fair

Soak up the sounds of The Beatgirls as they perform their well-known stage acts at this year’s Pukerua Bay School Village Fair on Saturday 19 March, 11am.

New principal, Tara Taylor-Jorgensen says she’s thrilled such a talented group of performers is willing to support the school at their annual fundraiser. “We’re pretty sure The Beatgirls will draw the crowds and create a great vibe. That’s what we need to make the day a success.”

“I still remember the first Fair I went to as a new mother at the school. And now as principal in my first year, the feeling is still the same. I was, and still am, blown away by the community spirit. The school transforms into a giving and supportive community hub. I reckon we do that the best. It doesn’t feel like just another school fair – it’s a cool place to be,” says Tara TJ.

All the usual stalls will be there, including plants and produce, bric-a-brac, clothing, crafts, toys, plus delicious food made in Pukerua Bay, homemade lemonade, milkshakes and a tea room.

Tara TJ says the school is alive with activity, getting ready for the Fair. “We’ve got horse rides back this year, a Hot Rod display from Western Bays Rodders, Fairy & Elf Land, Bumping Balls, Sumo Suits, a merry-go-round, and lots of other kids’ games and entertainment. And I believe the Drift Bike prize for the mystery key stall is going to be popular too.”

“Money raised from this year’s Fair will go towards developing our schools innovative learning environments,” says Tara TJ.

“We can inspire our children to learn by creating modern learning spaces both inside the school environment and out in our community. If the space is a change to the layout of a classroom or developing a nook in the bush, and it supports our programmes of learning, it’s our children that will benefit. And that’s exciting,” says Tara TJ.

“I’m amazed at how well the Fair does each year. We’re not the biggest school, but we certainly behave like we are. We put on a fantastic day, so come along and enjoy the atmosphere.”
