Tribute concert to commemorate the Great Mario Lanza

Join Operatunity as we pay tribute to one of the most influential classical singers of the modern era: The Great Mario Lanza.

From his first breakout performance as Fenton in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Mario Lanza became a sensation as a crossover Opera and Popular singer and eventually a star of the silver screen in hits such as That Midnight Kiss and The Great Caruso. The urgency and intensity in his voice showed how passionate he was in regard to music, singing every word “like it was [his] last on earth”. Sadly, Mario’s career was cut short after his passing at the age of 38.

Mario Lanza was a true inspiration to many modern singers, with the Three Tenors, Andrea Bocelli and even Elvis Presley and our own international tenor Simon O'Neill all acknowledging him as a driving force in their own careers. Although he was met with much scrutiny and was the subject of many rumours in his heyday, Mario Lanza is remembered today as an incomparable icon and a bittersweet figure of the 40s and 50s. In their upcoming show, Operatunity combines rare insight and exceptional music into one outstanding tribute to the One Tenor and his compelling life.
