NZ Secondary Schools Netball teams ready to shine

The best and brightest young netballers from across the country are getting ready to hit the courts at the NZ Secondary Schools Netball Champs (NZSS) at the Walter Nash Stadium in Hutt Valley,Tuesday 4 – Friday 7 October, 2016.

16 teams will be vying for the title, a title that has been won by Mount Albert Grammar School (MAGS) for the last four years.

Three teams, St Hilda’s Collegiate, Aorere College and Rotorua Girls’, will be making their debuts at NZSS. While others are returning after an absence including Palmerston North Girls’ for what will be their 13th appearance at NZSS and St Mary’s College is back to attend their 10th national event.

NZSS has been a key stepping stone for a number of Silver Ferns including current captain Katrina Grant, Laura Langman, Kayla Cullen, Grace Rasmussen and Maria Tutaia.

Bay of Islands College won the first ever NZSS event in 1993 while MAGS has the most titles having won the tournament on five occasions.

The action will get underway at 9.30am on Tuesday 4 October.

The NZ Secondary Schools Champs will culminate in the Grand Final at 1.40pm on Friday 7 October.

Results will be updated in NZSS online hub throughout the event.
