Excitement builds for Kerikeri Open Art Studios Trail...

Paint is flowing. Clay shapes are forming. Metal is being fused. And wood-chips are flying.

45 artists around Kerikeri are putting the finishing touches on work for the KOAST (Kerikeri Open Art Studios Trail) this coming Labour Weekend.
With 26 open studios and galleries, and 12 new artists this year, trail visitors have even more variety and more venues to choose from.

Three guest artists bring added interest from further afield. Robert Campion is a portrait and landscape painter who has recently moved north to focus full time on his art.

Pauline Gough likes to work intuitively to create contemporary landscapes in acrylics. And Kaikohekohe Weavers make traditional cloaks and contemporary baskets from flax.

Guest artists will have their work at some of the group venues shared with local artists.

KOAST offers a rare opportunity to meet artists right where their work is created. Visitors get a glimpse into their process, their motivation,
and their sometimes quirky environments where it all comes together.
Trail visitors often get inspired to explore their own creative stirrings, or to buy artwork directly from the artist - complete with its story.

KOAST entry is free and studios are open for each of the three days of Labour Weekend from 10am until 4pm.
Trail guides with a map are available for $5 from local outlets around the north (see www.KOAST.org.nz) so give your holiday weekend visitors a creative treat.

Fill up a car with art lovers and head out to explore KOAST.
