Monday morning saw the U.S. Election receive a local jolt, with comments from a 1993 New Zealand interview with U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump picked up by thousands of global media outlets.
Newshub Political Editor Patrick Gower uncovered the footage, which featured Trump telling TV3 News (now Newshub) that his views on women should prevent him from running for political office.
The find and its implications were reported in The Washington Post, Buzzfeed, New York Times, Huffington Post, The Guardian, South China Morning Post, the Associated Press, Daily Mail, Reuters and thousands of other news outlets around the world and across America.
Last night saw Grand Designs New Zealand win its timeslot in 25-54, taking viewers inside the DIY bach of architect Guy Marriage whose holiday home is perched just metres from the high tide mark on Wellington’s Kapiti Coast.
The result was matched by the night’s TV3 programmes House Rules and The Best of Graham Norton winning their timeslots with viewers aged 25-54 and 18-49.
In the entertainment arena, TV3’s hit weekday quiz show Family Feud added new feathers to Dai’s bow-tie with the Wednesday launch of a localised version of the much-loved Family Feud board game.
Kiwi families can now play one of New Zealand’s favourite game shows at home – building on the success of the Dai Henwood-hosted local format. Tuesday night’s episode saw Family Feud have its biggest winners yet with the Norman family taking away a massive $20,000 and a car after their fifth consecutive night.
The episode outperformed competitor The Chase on TV One in key commercial viewing demographics including 25-54, 18-39, 18-49 and Household Shoppers with Kids.
Friday night saw TV3 secure another win in in its target audience of New Zealanders aged 25-54, as well as 18-39 and 18-49. The Graham Norton Show, 7 Days and Funny Girls took a clean sweep of wins, winning their respective timeslots in 25-54, 18-39 and 18-49.
The night marked a particularly strong result for 7 Days with the show attracting a 40.8% share of viewers aged 25-54 in its timeslot.
On radio, The Breeze in Dunedin and The Uplift Project have been driving the streets collecting unwanted bras as part of the The Breeze Bra Amnesty. The Uplift Project is a charity that sends donated bras to help women all around the world, supported by The Breeze Bra Bus that has been collecting new and used bras that will be taken to Tonga later this week.
