Powerball player from Wellington wins $5 million

Media Release 14 December 2016

Powerball player from Wellington wins $5 million

Powerball’s winning streak continues tonight with a player from Wellington winning $5 million with Powerball First Division in tonight’s live Lotto draw.

The winning ticket was sold on MyLotto to a player from Wellington. The total prize is made up of $4 million from Powerball First Division and $1 million from Lotto First Division.

This is the second draw in a row that the Powerball jackpot has been won, following on from Saturday’s draw where a young woman from Auckland won $10 million. The weekend’s lucky winner is spending some of her winnings to bring her family together for Christmas for the first time in over a decade.

Strike Four rolled over tonight and will be worth $200,000 on Saturday.

Playing Lotto is now even more convenient, with Lotto NZ launching a brand new App that gives players the ability to buy and check their favourite tickets on the go. The App allows players to login to their MyLotto account, purchase Lotto, Powerball and Strike tickets, check paper tickets and Lotto draw results, and watch a virtual draw for Lotto tickets bought through MyLotto.

The Lotto NZ App is now available for both Apple and Android devices. More information about how to download the App is available online at MyLotto: https://mylotto.co.nz/app-download/
