Love Actually is New Zealand’s favourite rom-com

With the festive season in full swing, what better way to catch a breather than spending an evening on the sofa watching a romantic comedy? With 92% of Kiwis admitting they like to watch rom-coms with a date, premium dating site EliteSingles wanted to find out which rom-com is the nation’s favourite:

New Zealand's all-time favourite rom-coms

10. Something's Gotta Give (2003)
9. The Holiday (2006)
8. Dirty Dancing (1987)
7. Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994)
6. Notting Hill (1999)
5. Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
4. The Notebook (2004)
3. When Harry Met Sally (1989)

1. Love Actually (2003)

Appropriately enough for this time of year, the rom-com Kiwis love the most is Love Actually - it seems New Zealanders have a soft spot for tales of Londoners falling in love at Christmas.

Alternatively, it could be that Kiwis have a soft spot for Hugh Grant. Not only does he star in Love Actually (and two more of the top 10 movies), he was also voted as NZ's favourite romantic movie hero. He's joined in the winner's circle by Sandra Bullock - NZ's favourite movie heroine.

NZ’s favourite romantic hero

1. Hugh Grant (18%)
2. Richard Gere (17%)
3. Patrick Swayze (13%)
4. Ryan Gosling (11%)
5. Tom Hanks (10%)
