Exhibition – A body of work and a work of bodies!

Artsenta presents Bricolage Bodies an exhibition as part of the Dunedin Fringe Festival opening Thursday 9 March. This pop-up exhibition features work created over the last six weeks by Artsenta artists in collaboration with local print maker Lynn Taylor.

Beginning with printmaking, artists have used a variety of innovative techniques introduced by Lynn such as using light responsive plastic and embossed aluminium sheets. Layered mono-prints were then cut and joined with clock parts and other found materials to create characters and codes. The result is a body of work and a work of intriguing bodies!

Lynn Taylor is an artist and art facilitator who regularly works with community groups as an “agent for change”. She describes printmaking as “the art of the unexpected” but also a platform for ideas to be discussed, exchanged, tried, and tested.

Artsenta is an award winning art studio for people who use mental health services, encouraging creativity in a supportive environment. Artsenta has been a regular participant in a number of Fringe Festivals, said director Paul Smith.

“The Fringe is a good vehicle for us to engage the wider community and for our artists to experiment and collaborate. Lynn has extended our print making into new areas and the resulting work shows a wonderful sense of creativity and fun.”

Exhibition Dates: 9-19 March, opening event 5pm on 9 March

Viewing Times: 10, 13-17 March, 10am-2pm
