Living Dead Rollers enter battle with Broadside Brawlers

Press Release: 4th April 2017

Living Dead Rollers will enter battle with Broadside Brawlers

Get set this Saturday for an epic battle of the North vs South as Dead End Derby Living Dead Rollers take on Auckland's Pirate City Rollers Broadside Brawlers.

Dead End Derby Rollergirls are already maintaining their position as one of New Zealand's top roller derby leagues as both All Stars and Living Dead Rollers have won all of their bouts so far this season.

Living Dead Rollers will be planning to build upon their unbeaten record from last year and last month's close win against Timaru Derby Dames. Saturday'sgame will be a tough battle as Pirate City Rollers are considered to be one of the top competitive leagues in New Zealand. This won't be a skate-over by any means. Living Dead Rollers have been practicing hard in preparation for the forthcoming bout.

The action takes place this Saturday 8th April at Cowles Stadium, with doors opening at 6:30 and the first whistle at 7pm. Living Dead Rollers want fans to wear green to show their support for LDR. There is also a competition for the best banner that a fan brings to the bout supporting either the whole team or an individual player. For further details visit the Dead End Derby Rollergirls Facebook page.

April is gearing up to be a busy month for the Dead End Derby Rollergirls. Just last week, Dead End Derby All Stars began their season with a nail-biting win against Auckland Roller Derby Bolts. At half-time the All Stars had a comfortable 65 point lead against the Bolts which was eked away to a 204 - 178 win. The Bolts presented All Stars Captain, Serious Crash Unit (Nicky Reynolds) with the Most Valued Player - Jammer award and Baddy Longlegs (Kerryn Findlater) Most Valued Player - Blocker award. "The Bolts were formidable opponents which resulted in the, close, nail-biting game. It was really good edge-of-the-seat viewing for supporters both at the game and on-line. Fortunately our strong blocking and nifty jamming worked to bring us this win."

The next games for Dead End Derby Rollergirls will be in Dunedin on the 13th May for a double-header as All Stars take on Gallow Lasses and Living Dead Rollers take on the Bonnie Brawlers.
