Official He Tohu opening ceremony

New Zealand’s newest national exhibition, He Tohu was officially opened by Her Excellency, the Rt Hon. Dame Patsy Reddy, the Governor-General of New Zealand, today (Friday 19th) at the National Library of New Zealand in Wellington. This remarkable new permanent exhibition sheds fresh light on three iconic constitutional documents that shape our nation: the 1835 He Whakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni – Declaration of Independence of the United Tribes of New Zealand; 1840 Te Tiriti o Waitangi – Treaty of Waitangi and 1893 Women’s Suffrage Petition – Te Petihana Whakamana Pōti Wahine and preserves them for generations to come. He Tohu opens to the public on Saturday 20 May. The exhibition is open six days a week and entry is free.
