NZIFF to help “Enable Love” in Dunedin and Christchurch

Enabling Love is delighted to announce our partnership with New Zealand International Film Festival.

This year’s New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF) in Dunedin could become the catalyst for sparking new romance for the city’s people of Dunedin and Christchurch.

A special $10 ticket price has been granted to members of Enabling Love, a local not-for-profit dating agency with a mission to break down barriers for disabled people.

The organisation’s founder and CEO Joshua Perry, who has cerebral palsy, approached Regent Theatre Director Sarah Anderson with a proposal to help give his 148 strong membership the chance to access the festival more easily and affordably.

He says Enabling Love’s goal is to break down barriers for disabled people when it comes to social situations, friendships and relationships by organising events and outings to get individuals out into the community.

“Some people with disabilities often have low to no income and can end up feeling left out. The film festival is a safe environment for people who are isolated or lonely with disability to meet and form new relationships.”

Joshua’s aim is organise a group outing of up to 30 people to come and view a festival film.

The chosen movie for the group to see is ‘Puzzle’ which was recommended by the NZIFF and this will screen at the Regent Theatre on Sunday the 26th of August at 12.45pm. Enabling Love is hoping to form a long term partnership so all regions will be able benefit in the future.

Dunedin tickets will be $10 and Christchurch will be $16-$19. Please take advantage of this great deal.
