Biophilia Returns to Queenstown in 2019 with Festival Theme
The 4th annual Biophilia Festival returns to Queenstown, New Zealand, in 2019 to be held at Ben Lomond Station from Friday, February 22nd through Sunday the 24th. The announcement that they’ll be returning to the picturesque site near Moke Lake comes with an exciting new addition to the 3-day festival programming, a festival theme.
The annual event, billed as an immersive wellness
adventure for all, will once again feature 3 days of
workshops, talks, and live performances to include yoga,
slackline, mindfulness, parkour, Acro yoga, dance, art
installations, and a few surprises in the upcoming lineup.
This will be the first year the festival will incorporate a
theme: Birds of a Feather Co-Create Together. Festival goers
are invited to explore this theme for a dress up night on
Saturday that is certain to be one of the highlights of the
event.
“Everyone who attends Biophilia co-creates
the festival for this human family of seekers and lovers of
wanderlust. We are all active participants and contributors.
Everyone is invited to express themselves authentically, to
share their gifts with the community, and to help create the
festival vibes.”
– Damian Chaparro,
Biophilia Festival Co-Creator
He says that
the goal of the festival is to promote wellness through
adventure and to bring positive change to individuals by
creating new connections that then ripple out throughout the
community. Biophilia’s six core values: be kind, be
present, be together, be generous, be outside, and be bold
are explained on their new website.
Over 500 people attended Biophilia’s 2018 event and organisers are expecting the festival to continue growing. Last year the schedule was packed with more than 80 sessions led by local and international educators, artists, thought leaders, and healers. The 2019 event is set to be even more expansive when the lineup is announced next month.
“As we move
into our fourth edition, we are happy to see the festival
growing and attracting an even broader audience. Attendees
include people of all ages from around New Zealand and
beyond. Our feedback reflects a growing interest in a
different kind of summer festival centred around healthy
lifestyles and connection. We love seeing people trying
something new for the first time and plugging back in to
themselves, nature, and to their
community.”
– Anna Chaparro, Biophilia
Festival Co-Creator
The stunning venue
located amongst New Zealand’s Southern Alps features
dramatic alpine views of the surrounding mountains alongside
popular Moke Lake. Attendees are invited to camp on site for
two nights to make the most of what the festival has to
offer, but 1-day and 2-day passes are also
available.
