Robinhood Stars Celebrate Season At 2022 Awards Night

29 June, 2022

The Robinhood Stars have closed the curtain on a largely successful 2022 ANZ Premiership campaign with their end of season awards night at Bruce Pulman Arena.

The Stars enjoyed their winningest season in franchise history, with 11 regular season victories, an elimination final triumph, before reaching the grand final for the second time.

Dynamic midcourter Gina Crampton was rewarded for a stellar season with the Stonz Jewellers player of the year award.

In her second season with the Stars, Crampton often ignited the Stars attack with poise and pace with ball in hand and led the competition in centre pass receives and goal circle feeds.

Defender Elle Temu's superb season didn't go unnoticed by her peers and fans alike as she picked up three awards for her tremendous defensive efforts.

Temu was named both players and members choice player of the year after her most industrious campaign, where she frequently disrupted opposition attacks with 78 deflections and 42 intercepts throughout, forming a fearsome defensive pairing with Anna Harrison.

Temu was also recognised for her contribution off-court with the Matariki award which is given to the player who displays team values on and off the court.

Returning foundation player Holly Fowler picked up the emerging player award, after one of her best campaigns where she influenced many games at key moments with big defensive plays and made the wing defence bib her own throughout the season.

Our National Netball League team the Comets stood tall in amongst a disrupted season, narrowly missing out on a grand final berth.

Defender Lisa Putt was named Player of the Year, shooter Eseta Autagavaia the Players Choice Player of the Year and midcourter Abbie Leger the Emerging Player of the Year.

Bernie and Chris Loomans shared the Volunteer of the Year award and were often laden with their run sheets and stopwatches, doing an amazing job at being the friendly faces greeting the teams when they arrived at the venue, and looking after the teams' requirements and changing rooms on game day.
