SENIOR PLAYGROUND

Newtown School is pleased to open its new senior playground. This was truly a community effort with funds and assistance coming from various groups in the local area.

We are particularly grateful to the PD workers who have spent two months of Saturdays dismantling the old playground and assisted the school parents with the installation of the new playground.

“Our school is an active part of the Newtown community. The new playground is another way of showing all Newtown children young and old that our community cares about their physical as well as their spiritual and educational development” says Principal Rhys McKinley.

Thanks go to the local community for their support of the last school gala - $8000 was raised for the playground. We are also appreciative of grants from the Pub Charity ($2000) and the Lion Foundation ($5000) and the Rose and Crown and Caledonian Hotels respectively. In addition the playground was accepted as a Ministry of Education Financial Assistance Scheme project.

The playground will be opened on Monday 23rd July at 10.10 am.
