University appoints Marketing and Communications Director

The University of Otago has announced the appointment of Graham Ford to its position of Director of Marketing and Communications. Mr Ford will replace Phil McKenzie who is taking up a position in Australia.

Announcing the appointment, the University's Chief Operating Officer, Mr John Patrick, said Mr Ford is currently Public Awareness Manager for Fish and Game New Zealand, based in Wellington.

"Mr Ford brings fifteen years communications and marketing experience in the public sector, plus qualifications and experience in journalism, which equip him well to lead the University's marketing communications and alumni functions" said Mr Patrick.

Prior to his current role at Fish and Game New Zealand, Mr Ford had previous experience with Career Services, Hutt Valley Health Corporation, the Department of Labour and the Education Review Office.

He also had six years as a staff journalist with the New Zealand Listener and worked in television. Mr Ford holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Victoria University of Wellington, a Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the University of Canterbury, and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Massey University.

Mr Ford will take up the appointment on Monday 18 July, 2005.
