WelTec appoints new Academic Director

Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec) has appointed Dr Jan Blayney to be its new Academic Director.

Dr Blayney, who has spent much of her career working in tertiary education, was previously at Victoria University, most recently as Director of Continuing Education and Executive Development. She is known for extending the capacity and scope of the Centre, establishing several innovative programmes and initiatives including a Certificate in University Preparation programme for domestic students, and project managing a nationwide TEC quality assurance training programme for adult and community educators.

Dr Blayney says that the focus of her new position will be on people, product and processes. “My role will be to work closely with staff, students and stakeholders to enhance WelTec’s quality programmes and services,” says Dr Blayney.

“It is critical that our capabilities keep ahead of continual changes in technology and education and that we consistently meet customer needs and expectations.”

Former Academic Director Neil Carroll is now Project Director and Deputy Chief Executive of WelTec.
