Free training course now accepting applications

Applications are now open for the last Unlimited Potential Learning Foundation (UPLIFT) training course.

The final UPLIFT training course is scheduled for 16 April 2007. Applications must be submitted by 4 April 2007.

UPLIFT is a free, four-day course for community project workers designed to provide training and build skills in information and communication technology (ICT). Travel, food and accommodation costs are provided and arranged through the event organisers.

UPLIFT training courses are funded by Microsoft New Zealand and delivered by Whitireia Community Polytechnic, with the Department of Internal Affairs supporting its delivery in an administrative capacity.

UPLIFT'S 'train the trainer' approach aims to develop the ICT capacity of communities throughout New Zealand. The initial training course gives participants the knowledge and support to return to their communities and teach ICT skills to others.

UPLIFT aligns with the Government's Digital Strategy and its vision to make New Zealand a world leader in using ICT.

For further course information contact Whitireia Community Polytechnic on freephone 0800 944 847 or, for an application form email UPLIFT@dia.govt.nz or visit www.community.net.nz
