Languages being learnt via the world wide web

Languages being learnt via the world wide web in New Zealand and Australian Schools.

It was only a matter of time before New Zealand students logged on to the world-wide-web to use state of the art websites to keep up with the leading technology overseas. With over half a million visitors a week Linguascope.com is establishing itself as the main tool for teachers and students worldwide, for use to enhance language learning.

Only schools can subscribe, but a schools registration allows all of their students_ access to the online games and activities both from home and school via a password across French, Spanish, German, Italian and English as a Second Language.

In the classroom _ teachers can use a single computer with a data-projector, interactive smart board, individual computers or a computer lab to utilise the product. With the site being added to daily it is a treasure trove for teachers looking for _just the right_ activity for their lesson.

We are now seeing interest from businesses who wish to support their local school _ purchasing the registration on their behalf and having the password for all of the students in that school, being their business name _ keeping their name in front of the families and doing something good for their school.

With the launch of the New Curriculum next year, where a huge focus is that Year 7 & 8 students are offered a foreign language, programmes such as Linguascope are going to be an essential tool for schools. It is going to provide the small rural schools with the same resource potential as the bigger schools.

More than half of the schools in the UK subscribe to Linguascope.com and NZ and Australia are set to follow. Linguascope.com delivers vital curriculum in an engaging format, while promoting computer literacy.

56% of Europeans speak more than one language and countries like England, Australia and New Zealand pale in comparison and this is the reason for the 2008 proposed curriculum change.

Chris Perkinson, from New Beginnings _ the exclusive supplier of Linguascope in NZ and Australia, says that on-line learning in schools is definitely the way of the future, and it is a great opportunity for local groups like Rotary or Lions or Local business to support the schools in their area, and get acknowledged for their support on an on-going basis. The business could choose the password as the business name and all students within a school would be entering that every time the logged in.

Jacqueline Guile from East Otago High School, who recently subscribed emailed Chris and said:
_Sorry it took so long to respond to your email. I have been too busy investigating Linguascope and the many possibilities it offers our students._ She goes on to say how the activities follow the NZ Curriculum and how it has been great for a small school.

Finally, with programmes like Linguascope, New Zealand students now have world class resources at their disposal. This is beneficial both to schools and to students.
