Kia hiwa ra! Calling all past and present Whitireia Writing Students!

We’re getting ready for a new edition of 4th Floor, our literary journal showcasing excellent work from the Whitireia New Zealand creative writing programme students. The deadline for submissions this year is Sunday 29 May. 4th Floor 2011 will go live in early November.

Whether you are currently studying writing with Whitireia or you are a past student of our creative writing programme, we would love to receive your work for consideration.

4th Floor’s editor, Hinemoana Baker, is a published poet and author, has had plays and film scripts produced, and is also known as a musician, broadcaster and producer. She tutored poetry at Whitireia in 2007 and 2008, and also teaches the Whitireia Poetry Online course. The publishing team includes students from the Whitireia New Zealand Diploma in Publishing course.

What to submit:
• Prose: Short fiction, creative non-fiction or novel excerpts to a maximum of 1000 words. Longer pieces may be considered at the editor’s discretion. Maximum of two pieces per submission.
• Poetry: Send up to five poems per submission.

How and when to submit:
• Email submissions only. Please email your submissions to 4thfloor@whitireia.ac.nz
• Please attach your submission as a .doc, .docx, .pdf or .rtf
• Please include in your email:
• Your full name
• What year you were/are studying with Whitireia and at which campus
• Your full contact details (email and postal address, daytime phone number).
