$1.2 million give way advertising blitz kicks off tomorrow

$1.2 million give way advertising blitz kicks off tomorrow

An intensive mass media advertising campaign promoting awareness upcoming changes to two of New Zealand’s give way rules is set to kick off from tomorrow (Thursday March 15).

The NZ Transport Agency’s national campaign begins ten days before the new rules come into force – at 5am on Sunday March 25.

NZTA Chief Executive Geoff Dangerfield says the agency has timed the launch of the ad campaign carefully in order to ensure maximum awareness of the changes, while at the same time minimising the risk of drivers starting to apply the new rules too early.

“We want to ensure that every road user in New Zealand can understand the two changes and where to go if they want more information. That’s why we’re keeping the messages simple - the advertising focuses on the date of the change and giving a simple overview of what the two new rules are.”

The NZTA’s mass media campaign includes television, radio, online and newspaper advertising. It will run from tomorrow until 1 April. A leaflet door drop to over 1.7 million homes will also start this weekend (March 17).

There are two TV ads – one for each rule change - so that viewers can take in the information about each change separately. The television ads can be viewed from tomorrow on www.giveway.govt.nz.

All advertising drives people to www.giveway.govt.nz which is the official source for all information.
