Christian School Celebrates
City Impact Church School celebrated the end of its 11th year this month with a huge prize giving ceremony that saw students awarded for their academic success as well as their effort and commitment.
The school also officially opened its new classroom block which was completed this year. The new classrooms are all fully equipped with the latest technology and include a science lab, specialist art room and library. The extension has also made room for a new technology lab for Media Studies. Soccer and netball courts, a climbing wall and a new play area are also on the plans.
“These classrooms have opened up a whole new world of possibilities to our students,” says Principal Darrell Parratt
Students from Years 1 to 13 received awards for excellence in all subjects from English, Science and Mathematics through to Art, Music and Drama.
School Creed awards for character and conduct went to Georgia Theron, Oscar Ironside, Tori Best, Jackson Veale, and Theo Payn. The award of DUX Litterarum for highest academic achievement went to Year 13 student, Arthur Young.
School choirs ‘Treble Agents’ and ‘Increasing Light’ performed ‘Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride’ and ‘I Go to Rio’.
City Impact Church School students achieved excellent results in their 2014 external Cambridge examinations, with a 100 percent pass rate at Year 13.
City Impact Church School sports teams have also done well this year with Years 1 and 2 Basketball winning most of their games in the East Coast Bays mini league. Years 5-6 Hockey went through the season undefeated in the North Harbour development grade. Years 3-7 Netball teams won their North Harbour Netball grading rounds, and were promoted to higher grades. The Year 3-5 team also won their competition round. Years 5-10 Football teams won their Auckland Christian Schools tournaments undefeated.
