New Executive Team of 25 students announced
New Executive Team of 25 students announced to lead the UC Student Volunteer Army
On Tuesday 11th September the University of Canterbury Student Volunteer Army (SVA) held their Annual General Meeting and the new Executive team for the SVA, consisting of 25 University of Canterbury students, was announced.
With a growing Club membership of more than 2500 members, five new positions were added to the Executive team: a Wellness Officer, Impact Officer, Membership Officer and an additional Events Coordinator and Schools Coordinator. The increased size of the Executive reflects the Club’s ambition to continue to grow and increase not only membership size but also tangible impact out in the Community.

The Executive team has big plans and targets for 2017 including increasing membership size to 3000 members, holding a volunteer project every weekend of the Academic year and continuing to run larger events including two SVA Camps, a Serve for NZ project and a Connect the Community Event.
The team is also working on plans for a new event to be held in the University’s Orientation Week involving 1000 UC student volunteers. If successful, the O-week event will be the largest mobilisation of volunteers since the Earthquakes.
